MAY UPDATE

UPDATE from the BUNTONS
(Don't miss the video toward the middle! It's cute and funny.)

The diaper man fell asleep on our new couch - new to our family, I mean, the couch was given to us by Sean's grandparents in Bakersfield - THANK YOU! He must have been so tired because he just fell asleep in that cute, funny position, in his new tennis-shoes.

He's very sweet... when he's asleep!!

How can anyone fall asleep in that position? I don't know. It works for him.

Then he woke up from his nap and started playing with his cool car.

Then we ate dinner! Matt has been so good at using forks and spoons!! He actually feeds himself.

Then it was his bath time. He was happy to brush his own teeth, so I let him. What a neat kid!!

I'm stinky NO MORE!!

Mama wanted to take a picture of my long eyelashes. She's jealous of my long eyelashes cause her's are short...

For Mother's Day, Sean made all kinds of delicious food for the three women - his mom, his sister, and me... well, and for the rest of the family members - Everything was fantastic. It's a shame that we don't get to eat Sean's delicious food everyday. Sean makes this amazing asparagus dish that everyone loves. I mean, Matt even ate like two of them in one sitting!! Now, that's a miracle.

With his cousin, Alex. He was actually having fun and smiling until I got my camera out.

Matt is probably more curious than curious George. He loves to learn names of different things. His favorite book is baby's 100 first words - he pulls it out and always points and asks what everything is. Well, every now and then, he would take our fingers to pictures on the book and say "Thats?" meaning "What's that?" This is a video I captured one day of Matt's curiosity.

Matt hates hats but this time, he had it on for quite a while so I made sure I took some pictures of him in the hat before he went and hid it somewhere. He looks so cute in hats, I think.

Cute!

Well, everything is going well with the Bunton family! Until next time, tah tah!!

Four Steps!!

Matthew took his first steps last night after we bribed him with some chocolate. Also his new stride rite shoes helped a lot! Well, we paid 30 bucks for those shoes so they'd better help!! Anyway, I can see him walking everywhere pretty soon. We were so very excited to see Matt taking those first four steps, though. It was pretty much the best mother's day gift ever! Everyone asks why I want Matthew to walk so badly but I don't know - I guess I am anxious to see Matt grow and do different things. :-)

Smart?

I just wanted to write a quick note about Matt's improvement in speech and comprehension department before I forget. I'm starting to wonder if he will start talking before he starts walking. Yeah, he's 14 months old and still not walking but you know what, I am not going to worry too much about it. I am doing whatever I can to help him take those very first steps but if Matt's not ready, I will just try to be patient. It's not a competition, you know! :) Anyway, that's not the point of this post - Like every parent thinks that their kids are the smartest, I know, but I can't help thinking he might be one of the smartest kids ever. Maybe it's what every kid at his age does, I don't know, I've only had one kid so far - but Matt understands so many things already. He understands sentences, not just words, so funny and strange. I guess the obnoxious repetition pays off at last.... Sean and I repeat certain sentences over and over again for Matt to remember. For example, we have been trying to get him to imitate animal sounds - such as snake's hiss, lion's grawl, wolf's owww, etc... And when we say "What does a snake (or lion or wolf) say?", he makes their sounds. He also started saying "popo" which means "kiss" in Korean not too long ago. His kisses are so cute - he usually has his mouth closed tight then lets the air out when his lips touch other people's, yeah, a little gross, but funny. Oh another thing, he can feed himself with a fork now. He grabs food with fork and takes it to his mouth and chew! Wow, that's a great accomplishment for such a little person, don't you think? He's not so much of a messy eater, either, so I am relieved. But I am sure that will change somday. Anyway, I didn't mean to brag about my baby boy but thought I'd write it down before I forget. I write these things so that I can look back later - blogging is so great. It's like a family journal.

Anyway, I wonder if he will start reading when he's 3 like I did. That would be pretty sweet. Although that would take a lot of effort to acheive that one, on my part. My mom was so patient with me - she always read books to me and I think that is why I wanted to read so badly when I was so young. I used to memorize children's books when I started reading and would recite them to my parents. They thought I was some kind of a genius... humm... what happened?? :)

For the Beauty of the Earth

Every Saturday, our family goes on a trail in town and walk 3-5 miles - it usually takes us about an 1-1 1/2 hours to finish our walking + jogging + enjoying the nature. It has become our Saturday tradition. This week, we knew it was going to rain all weekend, so we decided to do it on Thursday when Sean came home a little early for the check-up for our Nissan. Matt loves it whenever we go for a walk. He's a nature person, I think, he loves all the green colors and colorful flowers around the trail. Here are some pictures from our walk.

Someone carved a smiley face on the wood - how cute

Love the view

California Poppy - so pretty!

Pretty Flowers

While Sean was hometeaching, Matt and I went out for a walk around the neighborhood. The weather has been beautiful around here - it got pretty hot, up to 100 degrees, but this week has been warm and breezy. While we were out walking, I discovered that Matthew loves flowers. He pointed at flowers every time he saw them. So I took a couple of pictures of him with the pretty flowers. I love strolling around with Matt. He's totally a outdoor person. Being out puts him in a cheery mood. He sings -he always sings his favorite song - twinkle, twinkle, little star - I'm serious, this guy can carry the tune better than I can! He points at millions of different things he sees out and says "That's!" (interpretation: What's that?) and I tell him what they are both in English and Korean. We can communicate better than ever. It's so fun! He understands a lot of things. About a week ago, Matt started understanding "Can you ....?" questions. So far, he knows what "Can you clap?" means. Whenever I say it, he claps. It's the cutest thing, really. He also knows "Can you talk on the phone?" because whenever I say it, he takes his hand up to his ear and says "Hai". He understands "Stinky", "Popo (kiss)", "Blow kisses", "Where's ....?" (he always points whenever he hears the word". Lately, he's been trying to lift up his book and takes it closer to his eyes (Bad habit - I think it's because he always sees me and Sean reading books like that). He's getting pretty close to walking. Now and then, he tries to stand up on his own. I swear, he walks when I'm not looking. He's sneaky!! Hopefully, he will take his first steps and make us proud. But he has been doing a lot of smart things and I am really impressed with how fast a little baby like him can learn.

Sunday Afternoon

These pictures were taken yesterday afternoon after we came home from church. We attempted to take some family pictures but they didn't turn out too great. Well, it's always a task trying to take pictures of all of us when there is no one else to take them for us. We really need to get some good family pictures taken but these will do for now.

We were actually surprised that Matt looked at the camera when we took this picture.

Talking on the phone again...

Climbing up the couch - he does so well. He also climbs down the couch.

I love his big, round, asian eyes!

Another family shot

Mama and Matty

He makes funny faces all the time. He makes me laugh!

My lovely two boys - Sean and Matt

He was actually laughing out loud.

Well, as you can see, Matty didn't like it so much...

Sean was tickling Matty.

I love his gorgeous Brown Eyes!!

In the process of changing Matt's diaper..... Yuck!! :-)

He was so tired - He just lay down on the carpet... That never happens!!

More Pictures

These pictures were taken by our new Canon Powershot camera that was given to us from Scott and Jodi. We love it! I thought I'd upload some new photos of Matthew before I forget. Enjoy!

He really CAN'T be good all the time!

I don't remember who gave Matthew the baby doll but Matt likes to play peek-a-boo with it sometimes.

Playing with a TV remote

Sometimes he thinks it's a phone

Saying "Ash"

Poor guy, he was so tired....

He fell asleep in our room for a nap, then when I came back into the room, he was almost hugging the pillow that I had put next to him so that he doesn't flip over and fall off the bed. Cute!

Still trying to learn to walk..

Giving himself a treat to milk!!

Just a funny shot

That's Matty peeking to see if I'm looking at him...

I love that smile!

The cutest smile ever!

I can almost walk!

Just a few days ago, Matt started walking with the help of his train toy. We always tried to get him to hold on to the back of the train and walk, but for some reason, he never wanted to try it. But all of sudden, he just started doing it on his own. He would spend hours just walking across the living room with his train toy everyday. I am so excited. I have a feeling he's going to walk soon!
