Matt's clapping!

I just wanted to write a quick note and say that Matt started clapping today! It is interesting because he started clapping at the same time he's so sick with a cold. He had a fever of 101-102 last night and this morning but he seems to be doing a little better now. When we sat down for dinner, we were just clapping for Matt for doing something cute, then he started clapping in the cutest way. I need to videotape it sometime. But whenever Sean and I clap, Matt claps too. It's really funny and adorable.

I am so excited that Matt seems to understand us better everyday. I'm pretty sure he knows his name now. Whenever I say Matthew, he looks back and crawls towards me. I can't wait for Matt to start saying words. So far, he says "dada", "bubba", "mama", "appa", and "umma". He doesn't say "mama" or "umma" very often though, only when he's in a bad mood or needs some milk.

Well, that's what's happening around here with Matthew. He's still a cutie and I'm still a proud mama. :)

Orange is Sour

Roseville has some great manderin oranges and we get them every year. We've been having them all December and we would always find Matt taking a bite of those oranges. He loves them but the pictures below are hilarious because Matt makes a face after he takes a big bite of an orange.

He loves holding mandarin oranges. I think he thinks it's a ball or something.

Matthew and Grandparents

Have you ever tried to make your baby smile big for nice family pictures? Well, here's the thing. Matt absolutely LOVES taking pictures and he is SO photogenic but whenever we try to take pictures of him with his grandparents, cousins, or our friends, he never smiles. It is quite frustrating sometimes. But it is also fun to see other people become silly and goofy trying to make Matthew smile for pictures. I think that's so cute. Well, here are some pictures of Matthew with his grandparents and cousins.

New Year's Eve

We went and hung with Sean's parents and sister's family on New Year's Eve. We went out to eat at a nice steak restaurant called "Cattleman's" and watched "Fred Claus" and "Get Smart" afterwards. It was really fun. The guys played Battlefield on their laptops while the girls and the little boys watched the movies. Then we got really tired so came home at around 11:00 p.m. We stayed up until midnight though to watch the ball in time square to fall. Then we made out for a little bit, of course, ha ha. Then we just went right to bed. We were tired from working out at the gym and all.

Matthew's First Christmas Gifts

There are some pictures of Matthew with his first Christmas gifts. He got lots of books and little toys. The Humpty Dumpty you see is what Matthew's great grandma made for him. Isn't it the cutest? She is an incredible seamstress! She makes beautiful quilts, pillowtops, blankets, and apparently stuffed dolls. I look forward to her hand made gifts every year. When we told her that I was pregnant with Matt, she gave us a beautiful baby quilt for Matt as well. I think we have about 5-6 queen size quilts from her. They are all so beautiful. You can't really put a price on these gifts. I think Matt will cherish the Humpty Dumpty as well.

Sean and I got Matt a lot of books since Matt loves books. We love Dr. Seuss' books. I think we might enjoy those books more than Matt does. They are just so funny. He got little cars and some cool toys that make different sounds. But I think his favorite gift was a manderine orange that he got in his stocking. He played with it for a good while until he took a bite of it. I had to take it away from him because he likes to eat the peel.

New Year's Resolution

I just wanted to write down my New Year's resolution real quick. My ultimate goal for the upcoming year is to lose weight. I have gained so much weight ever since I got married and I would like to lose some weight before it gets out of control! It's not so much that I look bad in the mirror but I just decided that I should start exercising again before I get any weaker. Happiness is associated with good health, I think. Well, at least for me. So I started going to the gym and hopefully I will lose some pounds. My goal is to lose 30 lbs. Do you think I can do it? I hope I can. Sean is going to do it with me so it will be fun!
