Chillin' at Grandparents'

Normally, you can see the ocean from here but it was foggy that day. So where the fog is, is where the ocean is.

Sean's parents have really good views. Everything around the house is green. Pretty!

Matt, enjoying the view.

Apparently, Matt loves playing the piano. Hmm, I need to get a piano and start teaching him a lesson! :)

Okay, this picture says it all. They "are" related. I never realized how similar they looked until I looked at this picture.

Isn't he just adorable? Sean's mom, Sue always says we must just stare at him all day.

Whenever we try to dress him, he rolls over so we have to roll him on his back so we can finish dressing him.

He can sit up pretty good now.

He felt asleep with his mouth open! How cute is that?!

Bonfire!

We had a little bonfire on Sunday after church. It was really fun and relaxing. I love bonfires! We had teriyaki marinated steak cubes, shrimp, and smores of course! They were delicious! Sean makes the best teriyaki sauce ever!! The meat tasted fantastic. Matt was up for a while but then got tired and cranky. So I fed him and he fell asleep.

The BEACH!

In front of a little, tiny cave at the beach.

Matt stared at the waves for a long time. He was amazed!

Daddy and Matty at the beach together.

I love the beach! It calms me down when I see the blue ocean without end.

There were lots of small caves by the beach. A lot of people were going into them and we did too thinking that we'd see some amazing caves. They were disappointing of course, but not too bad.

There were about 500 steps down to the beach. Going down wasn't really the problem, it was going up that caused us short breathed! Matt seemed to be having a hard time as well, haha.

Look at Sean's mouth. He looks like he's seen something horrible or something. Was it me that scared him?

Matt had never been to the beach before (well, we went by the beach once before to take some family photos, but we never walked along the beach with Matt), so we took him to the beach. I think he was shocked to see such a giant bathtub. He kept staring at the beach. When the waves came hit our feet, I tried to lower Matt's body so that he could feel the water on his feet but he got scared and he screamed a little bit. So we knew that he wasn't ready for the ocean water yet. We walked along the beach on barefoot and the next day, our legs were so sore!! Well, never walk on the sand on barefoot if you don't like the sore feeling. Sean and I love to walk on the sand though so the soreness didn't really bother us. We saw some little kids who were playing in the water with their parents, some were butt naked -which was rather a disturbing image-, some were wearing bikinis -why would you ever dress your babies in bikinis anyway?- but most of them seemed to be having fun. We can't wait until Matt is a little older so we can all have fun in the water someday. (Well, actually, I could wait a little longer until Matt can walk and all that.. although chasing after him could be a good exercise.)

FAMILY

In the beginning of July...

Our family got to travel a little ways to visit families in Pismo Beach and Bakersfield over the weekend. It was Matt's first time traveling that far.. (We took him to San Francisco once when he was about a month old but that's only about two hours away from here) Matt did pretty good for the most parts except on our way to Pismo. He was a little fussy but I got in the backseat with him and kept him entertained so he was fine. Sean's whole family was at his parents' so it was nice but Matt wasn't really used to being around that many people yet. He napped quite a bit on Independence day but woke up pretty happy on Saturday morning.

We had a chance to go visit Sean's grandparents (the Buntons) for a day in Bakersfield. The Buntons are in their 80's but they still look pretty good! They seemed to be doing well and were excited to see their great grandbaby Matthew. Grandpa Cecil was a little hesitant to hold Matthew at first because he can't see very well, but he finally held him just a little before we left. It was really cute to see great grandpa Cecil and Matthew so close to each other. We got some good pictures. Matt was smiley the whole time grandpa Cecil was holding him. Grandma Mildred also got to hold Matthew for a while and Matt and he loved her too as you can see in the pictures.

I am now so excited to take Matthew to my parents in about three months! I think I might start crying when I see my mom and dad hold our little Matthew. It is interesting how much you think about your parents when you become a parent. I often think about my parents whenever I look into Matt's eyes. I am so grateful for both of my parents, for all the sacrifices that they made to raise me. I can't wait to go see my parents again! I hope Matt loves them too.
