Pretty Flowers

While Sean was hometeaching, Matt and I went out for a walk around the neighborhood. The weather has been beautiful around here - it got pretty hot, up to 100 degrees, but this week has been warm and breezy. While we were out walking, I discovered that Matthew loves flowers. He pointed at flowers every time he saw them. So I took a couple of pictures of him with the pretty flowers. I love strolling around with Matt. He's totally a outdoor person. Being out puts him in a cheery mood. He sings -he always sings his favorite song - twinkle, twinkle, little star - I'm serious, this guy can carry the tune better than I can! He points at millions of different things he sees out and says "That's!" (interpretation: What's that?) and I tell him what they are both in English and Korean. We can communicate better than ever. It's so fun! He understands a lot of things. About a week ago, Matt started understanding "Can you ....?" questions. So far, he knows what "Can you clap?" means. Whenever I say it, he claps. It's the cutest thing, really. He also knows "Can you talk on the phone?" because whenever I say it, he takes his hand up to his ear and says "Hai". He understands "Stinky", "Popo (kiss)", "Blow kisses", "Where's ....?" (he always points whenever he hears the word". Lately, he's been trying to lift up his book and takes it closer to his eyes (Bad habit - I think it's because he always sees me and Sean reading books like that). He's getting pretty close to walking. Now and then, he tries to stand up on his own. I swear, he walks when I'm not looking. He's sneaky!! Hopefully, he will take his first steps and make us proud. But he has been doing a lot of smart things and I am really impressed with how fast a little baby like him can learn.

Sunday Afternoon

These pictures were taken yesterday afternoon after we came home from church. We attempted to take some family pictures but they didn't turn out too great. Well, it's always a task trying to take pictures of all of us when there is no one else to take them for us. We really need to get some good family pictures taken but these will do for now.

We were actually surprised that Matt looked at the camera when we took this picture.

Talking on the phone again...

Climbing up the couch - he does so well. He also climbs down the couch.

I love his big, round, asian eyes!

Another family shot

Mama and Matty

He makes funny faces all the time. He makes me laugh!

My lovely two boys - Sean and Matt

He was actually laughing out loud.

Well, as you can see, Matty didn't like it so much...

Sean was tickling Matty.

I love his gorgeous Brown Eyes!!

In the process of changing Matt's diaper..... Yuck!! :-)

He was so tired - He just lay down on the carpet... That never happens!!

More Pictures

These pictures were taken by our new Canon Powershot camera that was given to us from Scott and Jodi. We love it! I thought I'd upload some new photos of Matthew before I forget. Enjoy!

He really CAN'T be good all the time!

I don't remember who gave Matthew the baby doll but Matt likes to play peek-a-boo with it sometimes.

Playing with a TV remote

Sometimes he thinks it's a phone

Saying "Ash"

Poor guy, he was so tired....

He fell asleep in our room for a nap, then when I came back into the room, he was almost hugging the pillow that I had put next to him so that he doesn't flip over and fall off the bed. Cute!

Still trying to learn to walk..

Giving himself a treat to milk!!

Just a funny shot

That's Matty peeking to see if I'm looking at him...

I love that smile!

The cutest smile ever!

I can almost walk!

Just a few days ago, Matt started walking with the help of his train toy. We always tried to get him to hold on to the back of the train and walk, but for some reason, he never wanted to try it. But all of sudden, he just started doing it on his own. He would spend hours just walking across the living room with his train toy everyday. I am so excited. I have a feeling he's going to walk soon!

Matthew Update

Matthew is almost 14 months old already! Time sure flies by. Everyday, he does different things and surprises me. Here are some of new stuff that he has been doing lately -
  • He hugs - whenever I stretch out my arms, he comes and gives me a hug. Not just a hug, a bear hug - so tight, sometimes you can't breathe!

  • He pets on my shoulder - I always pets on his shoulder when I give him a hug and he does the same thing to me now. It's so darn cute!!

  • He understands a few words - Whenever I say "telephone" he takes his hand up to his ear and say "Hi". It's so funny. He knows books, dogs, walk, glasses, bath, etc. Also, he learns very quickly now. When he sees something once, he remembers what it is for the next day. For example, he knows glasses are for eyes, shoes are for feet, remotes are for TV, vacuums are for carpet, etc.

  • He likes to fit things together. He loves playing with something that has a lid. It's amazing how he can figure out how to open and close a lid.

  • This isn't so cute, but now he throws a big tantrum every time he is angry or upset. He usually waves his arms up and down, making this really annoying sound - it usually sounds like "ah, ah, ah" but really loud. I hate it. But sometimes I laugh because it's just funny how a little, tiny person like him can be so upset.
He bites his shoe when he gets bored.

Still a smiley boy!

Just looking at me taking his pictures.

So patriotic!! (He's waving a Korean flag that we got while we were visiting Korea last year.)

Playing with the camera case.
(Just so you know, I am NEVER letting Matthew touch our camera ever again!! Our camera just stopped working one day and we suspect that it's probably Matthew who broke it. But who knows, I might be wrong. In that case, sorry, Matthew for the false accusation. )

Just one of his funny expressions.

We ate out while we were visiting Sean's parents - we went to a seafood restaurant and they had a big fish tank, full of beautiful and colorful fish. Matthew loved watching those fish while we ate our delicious food.

Matt LOVES Sean's Drew Carey glasses - no prescription or anything so they are safe.

He folds his arms before prayers, not always during them, though.

He likes cows milk much better now. Woohoo!

Go Miss California!

Well, I don't watch beauty pageants of any sorts, really, but I read an article on Yahoo News and am very impressed with the courage that this lady took on stage.

This is an article about what happened on that stage last night -

"Last night Kristen Dalton of North Carolina was named Miss USA 2009, but no one really cares. The real highlight of the event was Carrie Prejean, Miss California, being questioned by judge Perez Hilton about gay marriage. Here is the transcript of the exchange:

PEREZ: Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?

CARRIE: I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anyone out there but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be between a man and a woman.

She clearly came down on the side of "opposite marriage," basically saying "no offense but your lifestyle isn't valid." I'm guessing Perez didn't give her his vote, but Carrie still managed to finish as first runner up in the pageant."

Later on that night, Perez blogged about the incident and called Miss California "a dumb bitch". I would call her just the opposite. I think she is very smart, honest, and even brave. She probably could've lied about what she believed in and got Perez's vote and won the crown. But you know what, she stood up for what she believed in and didn't lie. And the question that Miss North Carolina got wasn't nearly as controversial as Miss California's, but oh well, Perez is dumb for calling Miss California dumb. I am so glad that someone out there agrees with what I believe in and stands up for what she believes in. Go Miss California!!

A Day at the Beach

We had a very nice break at the beach last weekend. It was much needed and we had a great time! Oh the weather was just perfect, around 68 degrees, no wind, just perfect. The water was still pretty cold but we just lay on the beach and enjoyed the Sun. Matt was pretty happy, too. He was still afraid of waves hitting his little toes but still loved being out with us. We put a baby sunblock all over him, but he still managed to get a nice tan. So he's a little brown now - really cute still. Sean and I tried to get a tan, but wasn't very successful for us. I guess three hours of being out on the beach on a sunny day wasn't enough for us to get a little darker, ha ha. But seriously, we loved every minute of being out in the Sun. After our little fun at the beach, Sean said that he had been really stressed out lately with his heavy workload and all the things that have been going on, but this little break helped him release the stress and put him in a much better mood. I felt the same way.

This was taken on our way to Pismo Beach... He did very well during the 6 hour trip! He's a great traveler, not to mention he traveled all the way to South Korea once!!

At the beach

This is one of my favorites - I love how both of my boys are smiling.
