YES on PROP 8

Many church members have been standing out in the street with Yes on Prop 8 signs up for the past two to three weeks. Yesterday it was raining pretty hard and all those members were soaked wet, still waving those signs cheerfully. God bless them! When we went trick-or-treating, a lot of households had the same sign up on their windows and lawns. It is good to know that there are many people who are pro-8. I guess on radio, there was a mother who turned lesbian while she was married to a man. She wanted to call her daughter to see if she was voting No on prop 8. When the host of the radio show faked to be doing a survey and asked the daughter what her status on prop 8 was, the daughter said she was voting yes. The mom started crying and asked the daughter why she hated her and her girlfriend. The daughter said that she loved her mom and the mom's girlfriend, but she didn't want any other children go through what she went through as a kid in school. Before her mother turned lesbian, she was just a regular kid with mom and dad, but after her mother left her father to live with another woman, she became the girl with two moms. Gay and lesbian marriage can really hurt children emotionally. There are many public schools that are teaching our children that same-sex marriage or courtship is totally okay. There was a lesbian teacher who took her whole class on a field trip to her wedding at a city hall. She kissed her partner in front of the whole class. Do you want to protect your children from being exposed to these kinds of things? I don't hate gay and lesbians. I just don't want my kids to grow up thinking that traditional marriage doesn't matter.

The articles from Church News...

At the request of the Protect Marriage Coalition, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is making arrangements for them to call friends, family and fellow citizens in California to urge support of the effort to defend traditional marriage. The coalition has asked members of the many participating churches and organizations to contribute in whatever way they can to the effort to pass Proposition 8, including by phoning.

“It is a combination of two things,” said Elder L. Whitney Clayton of the Church’s Presidencyof the Seventy. “We are looking at options to fulfill a request from the coalition to help with phone calls to encourage support of Proposition 8. We’re also responding to the many requests we have had from students and others who want to help. Making phone calls is something they can do.”
Elder Clayton said that no decision had yet been made by the coalition on whether to activate any phone volunteers outside of California.

Although many Church members other than Californians have expressed a desire to help, the out-of-state effort will stay focused on Californians for the time being. No calls have yet been made from outside of California other than a handful of calls to test the system.

In addition, in a satellite broadcast that took place tonight for Californian Church members, Elders M. Russell Ballard, Quentin L. Cook and L. Whitney Clayton addressed the Church’s doctrine of marriage and participation in the Protect Marriage Coalition.

Proposition 8, on which Californians will vote on 4 November, defines marriage in California as between a man and a woman.

VOTE "YES" ON PROP 8

I really wish that I had a voting right here in America. I always thought that I probably would settle with a resident card but now I am beginning to think that I should probably work towards getting a citizenship so that I could have a vote right. Now that I'm raising my family (Sean and Matt) here, I would like to be involved with some important events that are occurring in America. I am a regular mom who wants her kids to be able to grow up in a safe place (physically and spiritually safe). I think that is every mother's wishes, at least I hope. I know there are many parents who don't care a dang about their children which is really sad. In California, there will be a vote regarding prop 8 which deals with the definition of a family in October. There are many ads on TV saying "Vote No for Prop 8" but practically none on "Vote Yes on Prop 8" - at least I haven't seen any- Many of the multi-millionaires and billionaires are supporting gay marriage in the state of California which makes me sick to my stomach. A lot of ads are saying that we should support gay rights because if you don't, that means you are a horrible person. I don't mind people that are gay. I have met some great people who are gay. I just don't agree with what they do. I believe that God made Adam and Eve for a purpose. But really, since when did gay and lesbian acts become so popular in our society? Only about 10 years ago, it was an unspeakable issue and now it is hard to find a TV show or a movie without a gay reference. Well, the only thing that I am really worried about right now is that my kids will go to school and learn about these things as if it's totally normal and natural and think "Wow, now I really do have a choice. Should I be gay or heterosexual?" I am scared to death! I know that I can always teach my kids good things at home and do all I can to help them learn the gospel of Jesus Christ. But I just think it would be so much easier if there was an external force that would teach them the same thing. Well, the conclusion is that I hope that people would care about their children enough to protect them from the evil. Please Vote YES on Prop 8 and protect your families!!
