Our Little Christmas Tree

Matt received his very first "Friends" magazine last night and he was so excited to decorate a paper Christmas tree on it. We got to clip all the little gospel related ornaments on the magazine and tape them all on a cute Christmas tree. Matt was so thrilled to decorate it.

This is the cute paper Christmas tree from Friends magazine - we put it up on our fridge! :)
When I asked Matt to pose for the picture, he gave me this really silly smile. Still cute. :)
Tonight, our family got to decorate a little Christmas tree. It's not real big. We decided to decorate the little one we already had and maybe get a bigger one if we wanted to. But I actually really like this little tree. So I think we will keep it and get a bigger one next year. Matt loves our little tree! He helped decorating it by hanging all our precious and special ornaments on the tree. He got to put the star on top of the tree too! He was really anxious to do it and he did it quite well.

He wanted to put the star on top right away!

When Matt finally got to put the star up on the tree.
I really LOVE this picture of Matt and Sean - SO CUTE

What's Happening -

I cannot believe I haven't really blogged about the Bunton affairs in two and a half months! You darn facebook! :) I have been updating and posting pictures on facebook more - so I feel bad for not posting anything on here. I have been keeping a personal journal, too, so I guess I have good reasons for not paying attention to this blog. I just wanted to update really quick before I forget.

So many things have happened since September! I will list them by chronological order.

1. We have finally moved into our own place! It's a rental - we can't afford buying a house yet, but maybe next year. We love our new place! It's got 3 beds and 2 baths, a perfect size for our little family. We love the wood floor all around the house. Matt loves his new room - he calls it "cool room". We just got more furniture so the house looks more like a home, looking all cozy and cute. Our guestroom is Asian themed - we've got some Japanese dolls and swords. I also hung a cool tiger picture thingy my mom knitted years ago. It's got a meaning behind it so I love it.

2. I am finally pregnant! We found out in early August. We were very excited because we had been trying almost a year. It was kind of funny because I had had my pap smear appointment with my gynecologist just a couple of days earlier and I had told him that I wasn't getting pregnant. The doctor actually "promised" me that I'd get pregnant in the next three months and also predicted saying "Maybe you're pregnant now!" Well, he was right! We just found out that we are having a baby "BOY". We are super excited. We will be naming him "Aaron" but I am not sure about the middle name - It's our tradition to give our kids Korean middle name so that my parents can call them by their Korean name. I have no idea what name - I have a couple of names that I really like but one sounds a lot like Matt's middle name and the other one, Sean's not too fond of because he says it sounds too "girly" even though it's not girly at all in Korean. So we'll see.

This is our little baby boy - he looks a lot like Matt :) He was doing a little peace sign with his fingers. It was funny. I wish I had that in a picture.
3. Matt is POTTY TRAINED!! I am really excited about that. It didn't take him awful long to figure it out. He was unwilling to do it at first, the first three days were just a nightmare for both me and Matt, and even Sean at night. Once I had to have him sit on the toilet for three hours. I had to be really strong not to let him off the toilet and I made sure his legs weren't asleep every 10 minutes or so but after that, Matt wanted to go potty and actually go pee and poop. Now, it's been over a month since he got potty trained and he does so well and hasn't had an accident during day time. He rarely has an accident overnight but I'm not going to worry about that right now. And I cannot believe I don't have a picture of him with a little potty or something.

4. We finally took a little family trip down to San Diego! It was so much fun! It was definitely needed! We went to Seaworld/SD Zoo/Wild Animal Park/Island, etc. We did lots of fun things and Matt loved it, too. We got to try a couple of Korean restaurants there, too. They were all so good!

At Seaworld! Matt was amazed by all the sharks swimming above him.
Before a Shamu show started
Matt's absolute favorite at Seaworld was this. :)
Matt was a little reluctant to run and give Elmo a big hug but he managed to take a picture with him and Abby.
This was the best show ever!
Downtown San Diego. We went there from an island on a ferry. Matt loved it.
San Diego Zoo
It was a really good Greek place at an island we stopped by.
You can see downtown SD in the background. I liked the island a lot.
Before we got on a ferry. Matt was super excited. I can't rotate this picture on blogger. Weird.
At Mormon Battalion Museum in SD. It was such a neat place.
Another one at the museum.

Matt pretended he was scared of the lion in the background.
A nice family picture!
5. We got a great family picture done and it turned out pretty cute. Here's one of us and one of Matt.

6. I got a new piano! Sean's grandparents gave one to us. Sean went down to Bakersfield this past weekend and he picked up a piano and a bed. We're excited. I am so looking forward to practicing more. I taught myself how to play the piano back in Korea and I know I am not great at it but with practice, I know I will get better. :)

I can't really think of anything else that's happened. I'm still blogging my recipes and such. I've been reading Pres. Monson's biography on Kindle and it is such a neat book. I love every page of it!! We'll be celebrating Christmas at home this year. We're quite excited.

Merry Christmas!

Pictures

We went to a train museum in Sacramento. Matt LOVES trains, thanks to Thomas and Friends so we all had a blast.

Me and Matty

He almost posed for this picture...

He thinks that yellow thing is a sword and is not afraid to hit people with it and it hurts!

One fine Sunday...

That's me. :)

August 2010

I should really update this blog more often than I do. I am so lazy. Hopefully I will do better in the future. But I wanted to write a little update before I forget.

Matt is growing up so fast! He's been learning new words and phrases everyday. He is at that stage where he repeats everything we say. It is quite entertaining to watch him talk more. My favorite thing he says is "Yes! I did it!" He says it whenever he thinks he accomplished something amazing, like going downstairs, getting in his seat, taking off shoes on his own, taking a bath, etc. The way he says it is so cute. He lifts up his arms one at a time and says "Yes, I did it". I am going to miss that when he stops saying it.

Another one of his favorite phrases is "I'll get it, mama" Whenever he drops something, he has to get them. He says "I'll geg it." :) When he gets them, he says, "I gog it"

He knows all his letters. He can say them even when they are upside down. It's hilarious to watch him take so much interest in letters. We're working on the pronunciation. We're not in a hurry, though. I am sure he will learn when it's time. He loves saying "S" and say "ssssssssss". He's a bright kid and I am so proud of him.

His favorite toy is Thomas. He takes it to bed. He's such a sweet kid, too. Today, I was so tired so I tried to take a nap. He came to me and closed the door, turned off the light, and brought his own blanket and covered me with it, kissed my cheek and said, "night, night, mama". :)

Whenever we are at a store and he sees kids that are loud and running around, he says, "Hey, stop" or "No, no, no, stop." He usually folds his arms around the store and behaves like a good little boy... Not always, though. :)

Anyway, that was a lot about Matt. Things are going well with us. We just got a rental in a good neighborhood and will be moving soon. We're excited to have our own little place.

What a nice surprise!

I know I don't look so good in this picture. I was cooking and my hair was all messed up from wrestling with Matt all day.. then Sean came home with this lovely bouquet of my favorite flowers... I was touched. I think the last time Sean brought home flowers for me was like two years ago. So it was a very nice surprise.

Thank you, Sean. I love you.

So beautiful!

My New Haircut

I did it. I cut my hair pretty short. My hair hasn't been this short since I was like 20 years old. ha ha

I love Matt in this picture.

What do you think?

Please don't tell me you don't like it... I'd feel too bad... :)

Update

It's been a while since I updated this blog... I feel so lazy! Here is a picture I took this morning with Matt. We were all ready to go to church, can you tell? A lot of things have been happening lately. There's a little unpleasant thing going on in the family but it's helped me think a lot about the gospel and the importance of my own family, my role as a mother and a wife, and my own spirituality as well. I am grateful to have a husband who is spiritually strong and stable.

We have discovered what a smart boy Matthew is. He has been playing with his Thomas laptop toy and one day, we realized that he knows most of the letters. He's been teaching himself the letters and surprised us by pointing out most of the letters accurately on the keyboard. When I ask him where the letter "Q" is, he will say "Q" and point the letter on the keyboard. It is crazy! Today, I wrote down a few letters on a piece of paper and asked him if he knew what those letters were and he will say the letters accurately. It's amazing. So I have a new goal to teach him how to read by the time he turns 3. I know it's not impossible because I learned how to read by the time I was 3 too. So we'll see.

Other than that, things are pretty much the same. We are living in a house and looking for a house to purchase. If nothing, we will probably at least get a rental house by next year. That would be wonderful. We now have a new dining table set, washer & dryer, and a fridge. Now we need to buy a few more furniture but at least we haven't used any credit cards or loans to buy our furniture. We haven't used a single credit card in a year. We have been paying off our debt and only have a little bit now. We expect to pay it all off in a few months. We'd be debt free!! That's the day I am looking forward to. :)

We've been trying to get pregnant but no luck as of yet. I know it will happen when it is the right time. I am anxious but I know I need to be patient...

Well, that's about it. Hopefully I will post more often... But this little update will do for now. :)

Childlike - that's what I want to be.

Do you see that huge bruise on his beautiful forehead? He got it last Sunday while he was playing with his cousins. Matt loves his cousins Nate and Alex and they adore him too. They play around a little wild sometimes and well, this time, they put Matt on a blanket and dragged the blanket around the house and boom! Matt fell right on his face.... It was sad, yes, but the boys felt so bad for him that they cried with Matt. It was one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. When Matt was done crying, he left my arms and went straight over to Nate and Alex and said "Hi, Sasa (Alex)" "Hi Nate" and played with them like nothing ever happened. It made me think about that one scripture where Jesus says "Be like children" be quick to forgive and forget.. I wish I was like Matt. So innocent and forgiving. We made sure he didn't have a concussion that night. He is fine. He is actually proud of his little bump and he also makes me kiss it better every five seconds. :)

I love him.

Good News

Things are going well for us. Sean was just offered a fantastic job at Sutter Health and he'll be starting his first day two weeks from now. He also got a very good raise so we're happy. I'm excited about the fantastic healthcare benefit he'll be getting through Sutter. Luckily we had Matthew while Sean was interning at Sutter 2 years ago so we didn't have to pay a dime on the C-section and other procedures that I had for birthing. So maybe now that we have the Sutter insurance again, we'll get pregnant again soon. Hopefully. :)

What a slacker I am!

I've been slacking off lately and not posting anything new for almost a month! Shame on me! We got to go on a little family vacation to Tahoe last week and it was a lot of fun! We stayed at a very nice condo in a penthouse and loved it. We came home earlier than expected because of the snow storm that was going to hit while we were there but we liked our little getaway.
