Matt's New Haircut and More

Here are some of the newest pictures of Matthew...

He likes to eat ritz with a fork.

His 6-month-old hat still fits him.

This was taken when he was supposed to be on a time-out... Well, time out doesn't really work right now. He was throwing food on the carpet so we were a bit frustrated. So we turned his high chair facing his room. He hates it when we do it. So we thought maybe it was working so maybe he won't throw food anymore but as soon as we brought him over to the table, he started throwing again. *Sigh*

One night, we found him asleep like this in his crib... Kind of awkward but he slept like that pretty much all night.

He's growing up so fast!!

Okay, so I need to tell you what we're doing in the picture here. In Korea, many moms and grandmas give their kids and grandkids "U-boo-ba" (carrying kids on the back). I loved it when I was a kid and my mom says that I would always bring a blanket to her and ask her for an "U-boo-ba". When we went to Korean last year, I found this very fashionable and cute u-boo-ba blanket with a shoulder strap and all for $40 and just had to get it for my Matty Bub. One night, Matt was fussy so I gave him a fun U-boo-ba for a while and he enjoyed it so much.

Just goofin' around...

It's important to floss everyday.

Well, the shorts are still way too big for Matt

Trying to pull up his shorts...

He's happy when he's full!

Matt's new ritual in the morning: Get up and go and get the towels hanging by the stove/oven and take it to mommy.

Having fun with utensils

Look at his long, long, long hair!!
Well, soon it will all be gone.

He was scared of something... He was probably scared of himself. Because I am scared of him often.

Aww... he looks like a British college student... from the early 90's?

At a Vietnamese restaurant by our apartment

Mommy and Matty Boi

Before the haircut: Mommy I'm ready to go!!

Well, let me give the wall a kiss first!

Yay! Matty's hair is short and cute!!! This time, the haircut process didn't go so well. He cried. And cried. And cried.... And some more. But thank goodness, our skilled barber did a wonderful job. He's a little pricey but it was well worth it. Next time though, we will probably take him somewhere cheaper. Anyway, don't you love his new hair????

We aren't sure if he is sad to have lost all his beautiful hair.... :)

Oh, just in case you're wondering how Matthew got an owie right under his eye, it's all my fault. I have long nails. I usually keep them short but I guess I just forgot to clip them. So we were having fun, rolling on the bed, giggling and screaming. Well, somehow I scratched his face with my nail and a little bit of his skin came off... I felt SO BAD!! I am not a horrible mom... I was just trying to have fun! :-) He seems to be okay though and the cut is healing nicely.

New Things

I've noticed that I haven't been real good at keeping up with the blog lately. I have been paying more attention to my recipe blog... You need to check it out if you haven't visited it yet. :)

Well, before I forget I need to write down some of the new things that Matt has been doing lately.

Did I tell you he's walking around everywhere? He started walking kind of late, at 15 months. At first he was afraid to walk but now he won't even hold my hand when we go outside. I have to force him to hold my hand otherwise he will just run off.

He eats much better now. Just now, he ate a big blueberry pancake by himself. He also likes to drink vanilla flavored drinks. You know one of those high calorie drinks for kids. I think he might have gained a pound!

He LOVES fruit. He used to hate it. But now he loves it. Nectarines, strawberries, apples... So I am happy about that.

He is completely addicted to rice crispy treats.... He has to have one or two, or maybe four a day. Or he will probably go through a severe withdrawal.

He remembers things. He has a train toy that sings songs whenever you push a button. It sings "if you're happy and you know it..." song and it says "too-too or choo-choo" whatever the sound a train makes. Whenever that song is on, Matt either claps or says choo-choo. It's really cute.

He likes to do pilates with me. Whenever I turn on the pilates video, he starts jumping and doing some poses with me. I am not joking. Last night, he did some situps and pushups with me. Oh and he likes to lie under my belly whenever I am doing planks.

He is terrified of our vacumn.

He does the piggy game on his own. He grabs his big toe and says "this little piggy..." Okay, not those exact words but he tries.

He needs a haircut badly.

His laugh is the most precious sound I've ever heard. He doesn't laugh whole lot so it makes my day when I hear it.

He's more daring! It can be annoying and frustrating at times.

He loves giving hugs and kisses. He gives really tight hugs. If you haven't gotten a hug from Matt before, you still haven't gotten the best hug.

Time for another post!!

When we went swimming at Jodi's

He actually kept the hat on for a while. Well, he was trying really hard to take it off though, but we secured the neck strap pretty tight so he couldn't take it off..

Look at that cute smile...

One night, he wanted to go to a Yoga class with me.

All ready to go!!

Sean and Matt

Me and Matt

Trying to figure out how to open the door... Scary!!

He always wants to leave!

I found him wearing the oven mitt in our bedroom... I was looking for that...

Daddy and Matty

I love his smile...!!

He likes to put on the headset....

Good Books (JUNE)

I just wanted to list the books I read in June. But first, I would like to say I'm grateful for the local library where I can check out up to 50 books at a time. Without the library, I would have gone broke a long time ago.... I mean, I am already spending too much money on books. Can you imagine how much more money I would be spending if we didn't have a great library around the area? Matt loves going to the library, too. We go around the shelves in the kids book area and Matt helps me pick out books for him to read. Sean checks out 5-6 audio books every time we visit the library. He usually listens to mystery books. I do, too, but I'm just trying to stay away from them for a while since I already watch too much of those on TV!

The Christmas Jars (by Jason F. Wright): It's a good story to tell your kids around Christmas time. It was impossible to put the book down, even for a minute. The story is brilliant, heart warming, and hopeful. It's good to know that there are still many people who would do something nice to strangers without asking for anything in return.

Mr. Monk goes to the firehouse & Mr. Monk and the two assistants (by Lee Goldberg): As you might already know, Monk is my favorite show ever! I was a little hesitant to read the books because I thought maybe the books would ruin the TV show (normally, it's usually the other way around). But knowing that Goldberg was the writer for the show, I decided to give them a chance. Well, I knew I was going to love the book when I started reading the first page of "Mr. Monk and the two assistants". It's about Sharona's comeback as Monk's second assistant and how Natalie deals with it while Monk investigates two murders that happened in LA and SF. Although these two murders seem unlinked, Monk manages to find connections and solves the case. I read this one before I read the other one "Mr. Monk goes to the firehouse" which is the very first Monk series that Goldberg wrote. You'll enjoy the books if you're a fan of the TV show. It's hilarious!! I loved the books because I was looking for some easy reading for entertainment and these books were completely satisfying.

Momo (by Michael Ende): I picked up this book after watching a Korean TV show, called "My lovely Samsoon". The show talks about this book quite often so I thought I would read it. It's supposed to be a children's fantasy book but to me, it was way more than that. It is a very sociological book - very wise and thought provoking. It made me think about how I spend my time. Am I always busy and in a hurry? Or am I really enjoying every second and minute of my time with my family and friends? It was a good book for me because lately I had been thinking about my role as a mother.... Sometimes, I would see other women working full-time and making me feel "worthless" because I stay home with my kid. In their eyes, I am just staying home doing nothing "worthwhile". I am not very productive. I am just dependent on my husband's income to take care of things.... You know how that is. I am sure some of you have felt it before. I started comparing myself to these women and felt like I really wasn't doing anything productive. Well, I guess Heavenly Father heard these thoughts of mine. Because when I opened this book and started reading it, I got my answer. I knew that I was doing the right thing by staying home with my baby. I am not taking him to a "child depot" where he will be taught how to play properly and how to succeed without interfering with my time as a working mother. I want to be the kind of mother who takes much time to play with him, chat with him, listen to him, etc. So this book was a very good experience for me. Very clever, witty, and wise.

The tales of beedle the bard (by J.K. Rowling): Rowling's imagination amazes me. What a good writer. I liked all the tales in the book, along with Dumbledore's comments. It's not as good as Harry Potter series, though. But it's an easy reading.

The count of monte cristo (by Alexandre Dumas): A lot of people recommended this book to me so I finally decided to read it. I was worried that I might not understand a lot of words since it's a classic novel but I didn't have a lot of problems reading it. I was surprised how easy it was to follow. I fell in love with Dantes' character immediately. Oh and I am SO glad that he got to kick those bad guys' butts! I won't say anything more because I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't read it. It was a very good book! I am glad that I read it.

Update

Matt is taking a nap right now. I thought about a million different things that I could do during his nap time, like doing laundry, dishes, cleaning the bathroom a little bit, reading a book, etc, but decided to update our blog. It's so hard to be on computer when Matt is awake, if you know what I mean.

So Matt is into climbing lately. I was watching CNN on Michael Jackson's death for a minute, then I heard Matt's scream. Then I found him doing this.

He was almost stuck in between the chair and the high chair.

Goodness gracious.

Now Matt is a lot more confident with walking on his own. He walks everywhere now.

One day, he climbed onto the table. I freaked but just had to take a picture before I put him down.

Walking proudly in the kitchen

Matt loves fruit now, especially nectarines, peaches, and strawberries. It's weird because he used to hate them! Now, he can't function without them. So now we have to go buy fruit twice a week.

Yum!

Update (June)

We went to Lake Tahoe last weekend to go hiking. Sean's mom has a cabin up there, so we didn't have to book a hotel or anything. We went on a four hour hike with Matt - that was crazy!! It wasn't too bad, though. Well, Sean is the one who carried Matt all the way, so ask him if it wasn't too bad. :) But we really enjoyed the hike.

We also bought a pallet gun for a very good price. It was originally $199 but the store made a mistake and put a wrong price tag on it, for $39. But they gave it to us for that price. So we got really lucky. We had fun shooting at the cabin. I got pretty good at aiming.

Sean has a job interview with someone this coming Monday. One of his friends referred him to this health care company and they want to meet with Sean. We're hoping that they will like Sean enough to hire him. That would be really nice!!

Well, that's about it.

My Hubby's Best Friend's Wedding...

Well... Jon, it's about time you got married!!! Congratulations!! Jon, one of Sean's best high school friends, finally got married to a beautiful girl, named Whitney (although I kept on calling her "Rebecca" for some reason) in the end of May. We were unable to make it to their temple wedding which was in Utah but made it to their second reception in Folsom. The reception was beautiful. The food was great. I think I gained five pounds there! It was great to see Sean's close buddies at the reception, too!

Introducing the new bride and groom, Whitney and Jon Kenney. What a beautiful couple they are!

If you've met my mother-in-law, you know how naughty she is! So she gave Whitney a little nighty and Jon stuck it in the back of his pants (he was afraid that his mom might see!). So it was really awkward to see Whitney pulling it out of Jon's pants.

Well, needless to say, Jon seemed very excited about it. :) Oh, FYI, He's SO NAUGHTY, we couldn't believe it!!!

Well, Matthew looked the best at the reception, for sure. (Well, except for bride and groom, of course! :-)

Three best buddies - now all married!! From left, Brian and Amy Barrett, Jon and Whitney Kenney, and Sean and Sook & Matt Bunton

Kiss, Kiss. Well, Matt really likes watching me and Sean kiss.

The Bunton Family! Couldn't pass up a chance for a lovely family picture.
